The Freakonomics Radio has an interesting podcast this week discussing Social Trust and Social Capital. One of the best predictors of effective communities is trust among members, and one of the best predictors of trust is homogeniety. There is less trust in more diverse communities, but diversity leads to increases in creativity and productivity. Less diverse teams may work better in the short term, but more diverse teams will win in the long run. The podcast is here.
